Fifty Municipalities Participate in KEYTEX Energy Street Lighting Program

The generation portion of Allegheny Power’s street lighting rates increased by over 75% from 2008 to January 2010.  KEYTEX seized on this tariff anomaly as an opportunity for AP municipal customers, and took the initiative to structure a street lighting energy cost savings program.  KEYTEX Energy negotiated with several suppliers and ultimately chose Allegheny Energy Supply as the alternate generation supplier selected for our program.  The supplier offered customers a 30% reduction off the AP un-metered street lighting “Price To Compare”, a 13 month contract term, and immediate savings beginning in May 2010.   KEYTEX then went about the task of meeting with the many Municipalities located in AP’s service territory to explain program cost savings and contract terms and conditions.

The customer response to KEYTEX’s street lighting offer was over-whelming with 50 Municipalities located in AP’s service territory participating in the program. Because of the economic benefit provided by this program, many of the participating Municipalities are also utilizing KEYTEX for their total electric generation procurement needs.
